Position Details

Reports to: Distribution Manager or Superintendent 

Job Grade: 8 ($27.22 – $33.33)

Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt) Full Time  

Department: Distribution

Schedule: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

*Must be able to respond to occasional call outs, serve on-call, or work off-shift as needed.

Summary of Responsibilities

Provides skilled labor and technical expertise in the operation, installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of water mains, hydrants, valves, meters, and other related infrastructure on the water distribution system. 

Essential Duties

· Leading role with installation of new water services/taps, water mains, water pipes, meters, and valves.

· Repair and maintain hydrants, meters and ruptured water lines as needed.

· Aid in landscape restoration work.

· Operate various types of equipment and vehicles including light-duty trucks and tractors with mowers.

· Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and trucks. Ensure vehicles are stocked with proper items.

· Transport equipment using truck and/or truck and trailer (CDL and non-CDL vehicles).

· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully. 

· A high school diploma or GED.

· OEPA Distribution Operator License (class I or II) or a minimum of five years of experience of distribution or construction experience.

· A current Ohio CDL Class A license (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire date).

· Knowledge in the use of various hand and power tools, and motorized equipment used for general repair and maintenance work.

· Proficiency in operating heavy machinery.

· Prior experience in trenching and water main repairs desired.

· Willingness to perform manual labor in adverse weather conditions. 

· Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
