Job Description - Water Distribution Field Technician 1

This position is an unsupervised journeyman level position that works independently or in crews to facilitate repairs and maintenance on water distribution, treatment systems, and meters.

Requirements:

· D1 Certificate issued by the State of California Department of Health Services D2,T2 is desirable.

· Ability to perform heavy manual labor

· Must be insurable and bondable

· Ability to communicate instructions both orally and through writing

· Acceptable computer and typing skills

· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

· Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug-testing

· Provide valid California Driver’s License Class “C”

· Proof of US citizenship

Duties:

· Assist in the improvement, maintenance, and repair of water mains, metering service, fire hydrants, etc.

· Assist in the operation of power-driven equipment

· Perform “Pump Duty” on evenings, weekends, and holidays

· Respond to all Company emergencies

· Other duties as assigned

In March 1925, the Santa Ana River Water Company was established as a Mutual Water Company. Today Santa Ana River Water Company has issued close to 8,000 shares to 2,000 shareholders, qualifying them for water service. All shares are still connected to the land and cannot be transferred to anyone outside the service area. The company operates under a permit issued by the California Department of Public Health and complies with all California Domestic Water Quality and Monitoring Regulations of the California Health and Safety Code.
