Job Purpose

 Wednesday mornings. 8:00-9am  

The Water Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading engaging and effective water fitness classes. This role involves demonstrating proper techniques, ensuring participant safety, and creating a positive and inclusive environment. The instructor must be able to adapt workouts for all fitness levels and enforce pool policies professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

· Lead water exercise classes, demonstrating proper techniques and movements.

· Educate participants on workout benefits, muscle engagement, and injury prevention.

· Ensure participant safety by monitoring the pool and enforcing facility rules.

· Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to prepare equipment and start on time.

· Maintain cleanliness of the pool area and properly store equipment after use.

· Follow facility procedures for securing the pool when necessary.

· Communicate professionally with members, staff, and supervisors.

· Adapt workouts to accommodate varying fitness levels and abilities.

· Maintain certifications and attend ongoing training sessions as required.

· Successfully pass a background check.

Skills and Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Must be at least 19 years old.

· Experience teaching water fitness classes preferred.

· Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

· Strong communication and leadership skills.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and prolonged standing.

Working Conditions

  • Environment:  Primarily works in an outdoor pool setting, exposed to sun, heat, wind,      and occasional inclement weather.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. May require entering and exiting the      pool multiple times per shift.
  • Schedule: Flexible, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on class schedules.
  • Team  Setting: Works closely with aquatics staff and management in a collaborative and safety-focused environment.
