We are hiring a Full Time, Permanent position in EPCOR’s Central Division in El Mirage, Az.
This role involves performing a variety of semi‑skilled and skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of water plant systems. You’ll support the start‑up of new facilities, assist fellow operators with technical operations and maintenance work, and take part in daily plant activities such as monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing water production and treatment processes. The position includes reviewing lab analyses and SCADA data to guide process control and ensure efficient, compliant plant performance. You’ll also work safely with treatment chemicals—including chlorine gas, sulfuric acid, ferric chloride, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, and polymers—as part of maintaining high‑quality water standards. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on work and contributing to essential community services.
This position is subject to call back, overtime and week-end/holiday emergency call-outs. Operators are required to fulfill on-call duties an average of one week per month on a rotational schedule. Position has the potential for exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, water and sewage. Must be able to tolerate extreme heat.
Operator II requirements:
Must have at least 2 years of experience in the operation of water facilities; and must also have one/both the following certification(s) for water operator eligibility:
Water: ADEQ Grade 2 Water Treatment certifications
Distribution: ADEQ Grade 2 Water Distribution certifications
Operator III requirements:
Must have at least 3 years of experience in the operation of water facilities; and must also have one/both the following certification(s) for water operator eligibility:
Water: ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment certifications
Distribution: ADEQ Grade Distribution 3 certifications
This person must be dependable, reliable and self-directed. Must be able to be at work every day on time and able to work rotating schedules. Individuals filling this position must operate Company owned vehicles in a safe manner, and have a valid Arizona driver’s license with good driving record. An Arizona Class D driver’s license.
