Water Plant Operator I

The City of Thibodaux is accepting application online for the full time classified position of Water Plant Operator. All application must be submitted online at the City of Thibodaux's website by  Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 12 (Noon). If you qualify for the position, the written test date is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Recreation Building at Peltier Park. Peltier Park is located at 151 Peltier Park Drive, Thibodaux, LA.

Requirements: At least 18 years of age, and over one year up to and including three years of experience in the public works or related field. Applicants must provide a copy of your high school diploma or equivalent.  To qualify for the Water Plant Operator I position, the applicant must have at least one of the certifications for production or treatment and must be willing acquire both within two years.  

The purpose of this position is to provide and distribute quality drinking for the citizens. This is accomplished by adding controlled dosages of specific chemicals to properly disinfect the water system. Other duties include performing regular lab tests, monitoring chemical levels; making chemical adjustments; and maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the water plant. 

Water Plant Operator Pay Grade 615: Minimum $17.17 Midpoint $23.01
