We are seeking an accomplished Water Resource Director with deep expertise in surface water resources and a passion for leading impactful projects that shape sustainable water management. This leadership role combines business development, project management, and technical oversight, offering the opportunity to work on high-profile initiatives that improve communities and advance resilience against water-related challenges. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood hazard mitigation, FEMA studies, drainage planning, sediment yield, river mechanics, and stream stabilization design. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a portfolio of water resources projects, from planning through design and construction documentation.
Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping, watershed planning, and stream stabilization design.
Direct technical staff, providing mentorship, supervision, and quality control reviews.
Engage in business development and client marketing, with a track record of winning projects.
Develop project scopes, prepare cost proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
Conduct technical reviews of 1D/2D modeling, closed conduit systems, hydraulic structures, and open channel designs.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring expectations are met and projects are delivered successfully.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona (or ability to obtain).
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Demonstrated leadership in technical staff management, mentoring, and client relationship development.
Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
Proven success in business development and client service.
Expertise with FLO-2D and other water modeling tools.
Knowledge of FEMA requirements, ADMS/P studies, and drainage/stream stabilization projects.
