Water Truck Driver (CDL)

Drake Companies is seeking a reliable Water Truck Driver to support daily construction operations on an active highway project. This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement and involves operating a water truck to control dust, maintain proper moisture levels for soil conditioning, and support paving and grading activities. All work is performed on or near the project site. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, attentive to job site conditions, and capable of coordinating with field crews to ensure efficient and effective water application throughout the workday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a water truck safely and efficiently on active construction job sites to control dust and maintain proper moisture levels for grading, compaction, and paving operations.


• Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the truck and all spray equipment are in proper working condition.


• Adjust water application methods based on site conditions, weather, and direction from supervisors to support optimal work quality.


• Coordinate daily with project managers, foremen, and equipment operators to meet job site needs and maintain production flow.


• Maintain awareness of job site traffic, personnel, and hazards while operating equipment.


• Keep the water truck clean, fueled, and properly maintained throughout the workday.


• Accurately complete required logs, reports, and safety documentation.


• Assist with other tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Class A or B) with tanker endorsement required


• Prior experience operating a water truck or similar heavy equipment preferred


• Experience operating heavy highway equipment such as rollers, dozers, loaders, and excavators is a plus


• Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions


• Strong attention to safety and job site awareness


• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with crew members

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and perform physical tasks associated with construction operations.


• Ability to work extended hours, including occasional weekends, as project demands require.


• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds periodically.
