Job Overview:

This position, under close general supervision by the Utility Director and Water/Wastewater System Supervisors, operates, monitors and maintains the water and wastewater systems at Forest Highlands Golf Club to ensure compliance with state and federal agencies and performs related duties as assigned. May provide supervision for contract and non-licensed workers. Position requires ADEQ water and wastewater certifications. See Essential Functions and Minimum Requirements below.

Essential Functions including, but not limited to:

• Water Distribution – Tasks specific to the water system may include the operation of various system components to meet the demands for potable and irrigation water, reading water meters and the maintenance and repair of the distribution system equipment, pumps, motors, control valves and piping. Daily logs and records of water system operations and equipment will be completed daily, or as directed, with accuracy. May fill in to oversee proper system operations in absence of Water System Supervisor.
• Wastewater and Sewer Collection System - Tasks specific to the wastewater  systems may include operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations, sewer flushing, the repair of valves, pumps, motors, sewage grinder pumps and collection system piping. Daily logs for plant and lift station operations along with equipment maintenance schedule will be completed daily, or as directed, with accuracy. May fill in to oversee proper system operations in absence of Wastewater System Supervisor.
• Sampling – Collect and deliver samples to laboratory as needed.
• Equipment - Operate and maintain machinery, equipment, tools, and facilities.
• On Call - The position requires rotating weekend shift work and emergency on-call duty involving all areas of departmental responsibility. Must respond in a timely manner and be available on weekends, holidays, and after regular work hours during the on-call shift. 
• Snowplow Operations – This department participates in snowplow removal within the gated community. Must respond in a timely manner and be available on weekends, holidays, and after regular work hours during snowplow shift. 
• Meter Reading –  Water meters are read every month and extreme accuracy is required. 
• Environment: Duties may be required in inclement weather, lifting heavy objects, wet conditions while repairing water and sewer leaks, and the possible exposure to toxins associated with water and wastewater. This position can be physically demanding at times. 
• Special Duties and  Projects for this position include and are not limited to –  GIS mapping program, SCADA system maintenance, backflow preventor testing, maintaining mobile equipment maintenance records, assisting with scheduling of maintenance contractors for equipment, assist supervisors or director with coordinating contractors for underground utility line      replacement. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Comfortable working around raw sewage
• Valid Driver’s  License, satisfactory driving record and background check 
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum required ADEQ certifications for Wastewater Treatment grade 1, Wastewater Collections grade 1, and Water Distribution grade 1. 
• Within 1 year of hire or promotion – Obtain ASSE 5110 backflow preventor tester certification. 
• Within 18 months of hire or promotion - Wastewater Treatment grade 2, Wastewater Collections grade 2, and Water Distribution grade 2.
• Minimum Experience - 2 years in directly related field of water distribution along with wastewater treatment and/or collections OR 3 years of combined experience in water and wastewater, along with dry underground utilities, electrical, plumbing, backflow prevention, trenching, excavation, general construction, backhoe and heavy equipment operation. 
• Ability to work on-call rotation, snowplow operations, overtime, occasionally on short notice as needed, after hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays
• Regular attendance is essential and respond in a timely manner when on call for regular weekend duty or snowplow operations
• Knowledge in use of hand tools, digging tools, pneumatic tools, mechanical, critical thinking and math skills
• Home residence is restricted to an area within a 1-hour response time for on call emergencies and snowplow call considering winter and inclement driving conditions 

Desired Experience and Training

• Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new programs

Salary Range: $24.00 - $43.02 per hour D.O.E
