FanCandy is looking for a talented and enthusiastic software engineer to join our team for a great, ground floor opportunity.

Our product is aiming to deliver the ultimate social and
competitive experience for gambling and sports fans everywhere. This position
within the team is focused on the development of the platform which provides
APIs and Technologies that underpin the features being developed for the
service. We
will leverage your knowledge of and interest in design patterns and frameworks
to directly shape and influence system architectural choices. You will be
part of a strong and tightly-knit development group collaborating, influencing,
and growing your technical and domain expertise working with sports luminaries
and key business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build exciting new experiences on Fancandy’s
  web and mobile websites


• Work with other leads and production staff to
  establish engineering tasks and schedules.


• Contribute to setting the technical direction
  for the team.


• Balance time between managing and contributing through
  programming.


• Evaluate and mentor engineers on the team.


• Serve as a partner in the team's leadership.


• Interface with external teams to gather
  requirements, assist with integration, and provide visibility into the platform
  development roadmap.

Requirements

• .NET platform, architecture and
  fundamentals experience


• Distributed systems experience


• Security considerations (encryption, denial of
  service, online payment) experience


• Architecture (cloud, client / server) experience


• Knowledge of network and server security issues


• A passion for games, sports, or gambling (all
  three a huge plus)


• Strong communication and documentation skills


• self-starter who can take direction, but
  more importantly figures out what to do without being told


• Can handle pressure professionally and can
  become more engaged as situations get tighter.

Desired

• Experience building web or mobile products for a
  wide range of platforms


• 5+ years of experience with C# or equivalent
  web-based development


• Experience with Python, Javascript, XML, JSON,
  CSS, Ajax, HTML5, jQuery or jQTouch


• Experience building, debugging, and
  maintaining large scale distributed web applications


• Database development experience (MySQL, Oracle,
  PostgreSQL)

• Leadership potential or previous leadership experience

• Excellent verbal and written communications
  skills


• Agile development exposure


• UML diagramming experience (class, sequence)


• Familiar with higher-level network protocols
  such as HTTP, SNMP, SMTP, FTP


• Active user of Twitter/Facebook


• Previous startup experience


• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer
  Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
