Job Description - Weekend Dispatch - 1st shift

Summary/Purpose


Maintains radio communication with field personnel and performs clerical duties regarding routine activities as well as emergency power outages.


 


Regularly Scheduled Hours


Saturday – 8 hours (7:00AM - 3:00PM)


Sunday – 8 hours (7:00AM - 3:00PM)


This position may be asked to work additional hours as needed to cover absences of other Dispatch personnel.


 


Typical Duties and Responsibilities


The following are the typical duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties and may include other duties as assigned.  The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of NAEC.  All employees are expected to work in a safe manner and follow all safety rules and regulations at all times.  This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an “at will” employment relationship.


 


Typical responsibilities include:


·         Monitor Cooperative radio traffic for emergency situations.


·         Respond to or relay messages.


·         Record and track truck locations.


·         Notify crews of outages, giving relevant information, such as location.


·         Dispatch connects and disconnects to service representatives.


·         Contact members as needed by phone for power restoration, or to schedule appointments.


·         Must be at station at all times or arrange substitute before leaving.


·         Receive and handle member contacts outside regular office hours, or route contacts to appropriate personnel.


·         Tracking of AMR meters.


·         AMR database maintenance.


·         Outage database maintenance and verification.


·         All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience


High school diploma.


 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Computer experience in database, spreadsheets and word processing.

  • Operate two-way radio systems

  • Effective oral communications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write/complete routine reports such as time sheets, accident reports.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, customers and the general public.

  • Ability to solve problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Ability to interact with customers and other employees in a courteous and proper manner.

  • Ability to plan work and to properly instruct others.

  • Should have good working knowledge of all Cooperative policies and procedures and Service Rules and Regulations and Rates.

  • Ability to multi-task and perform well under stressful situations. 

  • Basic knowledge of System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operations.



      


    Physical Demands/Working Conditions


    General office conditions with irregular hours as deemed necessary by the position.  Requires the physical ability of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and defined light work.

    The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job, including normal office setting.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
