Job Description - Weekend Party Attendant


SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SHIFTS

Whitin Community Center Party Attendants are part of the WCC team responsible for providing engaging support to families, and guidance during parties/rentals. This can include setting up and taking down tables/seating, ushering guests to and from locations, assisting with decorations or party set up, leading game play for children, etc.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Hourly Seasonal 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greeting families upon arrival, and directing them and their guests to their locations.
  • Assisting in cleaning up party spaces before and after the event.
  • Setting up furniture or equipment.
  • Putting away furniture or equipment.
  • Ensuring the safety of guests and members.
  • Providing crowd control when necessary.
  • Assisting the families/renters with miscellaneous needs as appropriate (bringing party items to and from automobiles, loading up carts, accepting food deliveries for families, storing foods in refrigerators, etc.
  • Cleaning all rental spaces after each party, and at the end of the shift after last party. Includes emptying trash to dumpster, wiping down chairs and tabletops, vacuuming, etc.
  • Document and communicate, to Athletic Director, any observed situations or concerns for children and staff.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally to parents, children and colleagues.
  • Meet the needs of the family/renter and be responsive to the cultural and socio-economical background of the children and families.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as mandated by your supervisor which includes evening and weekend hours.
  • Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may be asked to perform other duties related to teaching as needed.

Requirements

Must be 16 years of age

  • Must be willing to work evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood and the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds in an emergency
  • Strong customer service, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to assist fellow staff members and work with others as a team.
  • Desire and ability to work with children of all ages
  • Demonstrated responsibility and dependability
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms.
  • May be required to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.
  • Receives and follows detailed instructions.
  • Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment
