Job Description - Weight and Balance Administrator

Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing, coordinating, maintaining, and overseeing the company’s weight and balance program in accordance with 21 Air policies, Weight and Balance Manual, and other software and documents pertaining to loadmaster, auditor, and instructor duties and responsibilities in MIA and other stations overseas. This position performs, coordinates, oversees, and facilitates the following tasks and corrects and reports deficiencies discovered. In addition, the Weight and Balance Administrator will conduct and provide initial and recurrent training for all stations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:

  • SABLE Infrastructure.
  • Add and update new and existing aircraft types and subtypes into the SABLE weight and balance program.
  • Build and perform all testing in the 21 Air weight and balance program.
  • Conducts reviews and testing of the company aircraft fleet within SABLE to ensure technical issues are resolved.
  • Conducts routine maintenance of the company aircraft fleet within SABLE.
  • Provides around the clock technical support to the Amazon network load planners and 21 Air Loadmasters.
  • Aircraft load planning.
  • Conducts initial and recurrent SABLE weight and balance training.
  • Ensuring that all cargo intended for carriage on the aircraft is properly packed, labeled, restrained, weighed, and documented per company and government regulations.
  • Prepares or supervises the operations of cargo weight and balance documents related to the operation of a flight.
  • Coordination and supervision of all cargo related functions related to the flight, including inspection of ULDs, nets, and pallets for airworthiness in accordance with established manufacturers guidelines.
  • Acts as liaison in the filed between company and its customers, vendors, handlers and government agencies to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency cargo operations scheduled integrity, and compliance with company policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Hazardous materials acceptance, loading, stowage, handling, and pilot notification.
  • Import, export, and other government agency documentation.
  • Customs, Immigration and other government agency requirements for international flights.
  • Ground security for aircraft and cargo.
  • Conducts initial, recurrent, and random audits on station and cargo vendors, ensuring full compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Certifying stations upon completion of initial audit.
  • Document and maintain records of audited vendors and personnel.
  • Monitor and/or conduct required training for loadmasters, both 21 Air and Contract employees.
  • Maintain and update training records.
  • Conduct station audits as required.
  • Perform the Loadmaster duties when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Cargo Operations Manager.

Requirements

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • High school diploma or GED minimum
  • Certified in weight and balance or load planning preferred.
  • Certified in acceptance, loading, stowage, and handling of Hazardous Materials preferred.
  • Training background preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • 767 loadmaster experience and knowledge on cargo and ground operation preferred.
  • Knowledge of weight and balance.
  • Familiarization in SABLE weight and balance program preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years prior loadmaster and cargo and ground operation experience required.
  • Load Planner experience required.

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

  • Ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written) with company, vendor, customer, agency personnel. (Spanish is not required but would be a plus).
  • Ability to work and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to type on PC and typewriter and moderately proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and E-mail.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work with different technical software.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel at a moment’s notice. (Passport required)
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain pre-employment/employment drug screen and background checks.
  • Must have a valid unrestricted US Passport.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to stand, bend and reach in order to maintain files; sit for extended periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work outdoors all type of weather.

TRAVEL

Must have an unrestricted US Passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally.

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 50% percent of the time, including staying at locations abroad for up to 15 days.
