Welder

Core Responsibilities

• Execute MIG and FCAW welding on stainless steel girders like stiffeners, splice plates, and diaphragms
• Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and fabrication drawings
• Prepare joints by cleaning and brushing edges before welding
• Perform root, intermediate, and capping passes in the correct bead sequence
• Monitor interpass temperature to maintain weld integrity
• Minimize defects like spatter and undercut using controlled techniques
• Collaborate with fitters/helpers to ensure joint readiness before welding
• Interpret welding symbols and coordinate with QA/NDT for inspection and approval
• Maintain welding tools and report equipment faults

Qualifications & Skills

• ITI certification in welding or equivalent training
• Valid Welder Qualification Test (WQT) as per IRS/ASME/IS codes
• Experience in MIG/FCAW welding in 1G, 2G, 3G positions
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity
