Welder Helper - 1st Shift

Position Summary:

The Welder Helper receives instructions from the Operations Manager and Welder pertaining to the assignments and expectations for the day. The Welder Helper will be responsible for assisting in welding and assembling metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools. The role of the Welder Helper is also to help by preparing welding equipment and materials, cleaning work areas, holding materials during welding, operating hand tools, and generally supporting the welder to ensure that all welding operations are carried out accurately, efficiently, and in line with safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
• Help weld small and large components such as steel.
• Use specialized machinery for welding and oversee machines that perform the same job.
• Help maintain and repair all machinery.
• Help assess welded surfaces, and components to identify errors.
• Help ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Assist in the stocktaking of welding supplies.
• Collaborate with the welder and the manufacturing team to ensure timelines are met.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.

Requirements

Education and Experience Required:

• HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution
• Proven experience as a welder
• Experience using electrical or manual tools
• Attention to detail
• Forklift Certification

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

• Professional Certification/Welding Certificate
• Strong organizational skills & Mathematical skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Knowledgeable in TFI/OSHA Safety Requirements

• Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment
