Burr Industries manufactures commercial holiday décor and custom fabricated products that are displayed in cities, parks, zoos, attractions, and other public spaces across North America.
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Welder/Fabricator who enjoys building things and working with their hands. Extensive welding experience is not required. We are willing to provide additional welding training to someone who has a strong foundation in construction, fabrication, maintenance, or other general trades.
What You’ll Do
As a Welder/Fabricator, you will help build aluminum and steel frames, structures, and decorative products from drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities may include:
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, bend, fit, and assemble aluminum and steel components
- Perform MIG welding and basic fabrication work
- Use saws, grinders, drills, clamps, hand tools, and other shop equipment
- Read tape measures, basic drawings, dimensions, and fabrication instructions
- Lay out and square frames and assemblies before welding
- Build custom products and assist with prototypes or product modifications
- Inspect completed work for correct dimensions, fit, appearance, and structural quality
- Identify fabrication issues and communicate questions before work continues
- Repair or modify existing products when needed
- Move materials and finished products safely throughout the work area
- Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized workstation
- Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment
- Assist in other production or facility-related tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with construction, fabrication, maintenance, metalworking, carpentry, mechanical work, or another hands-on trade
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure
- Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools
- Basic welding knowledge or a willingness and ability to learn
- Good mechanical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow drawings, instructions, and established production processes
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
- Willingness to receive feedback and continue developing new skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MIG welding experience
- Experience working with aluminum or light-gauge steel
- Construction, metal building, trailer repair, maintenance, farm, or equipment-repair experience
- Experience using grinders, chop saws, band saws, drills, and fabrication equipment
- Ability to read basic shop drawings or fabrication prints
- Experience building frames, gates, railings, fixtures, or similar structures
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position requires regular physical activity in a manufacturing environment. Employees must be able to:
- Stand and work on their feet for extended periods
- Bend, reach, kneel, climb, and work in different positions
- Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, dust, noise, and moving equipment
- Wear welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other required PPE
- Safely perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks
