Position Overview:
The Welding Educator is an integral part of the Training Team providing instruction and guidance to all-level of welders at the facility. They provide side-by-side mentoring using best practices, company procedures, and industry standards as a guide. They constantly observe welding operations and testing to identify areas of improvement. They act as a technical expert in welding and quality operations within the testing facility.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Conduct individual and group technical trainings associated with the Welding Education Center or other classroom trainings on all aspect of welding processes
- Monitor, evaluate, and document the effectiveness of training provided and adjust training material as needed
- Evaluate the performance of welding students to verify that they are properly trained and qualified in accordance with the applicable welding procedures
To thrive in this role, you have:
- High school education or state recognized GED.
- 5+ years of experience welding and/or welding quality training within an AWS or DIN certified organization.
- CWE (Certified Welding Educator) certification (unless SMO transfer)
- Successful demonstration of key responsibilities of practical welding.
- Perform visual inspection of increasingly difficult levels involving the application of working knowledge of welding techniques and methodology, ability to read blueprints and other specifications containing welding symbols.
- Working knowledge of torch, plasma equipment and test equipment.
- Ability to monitor the effects of weld techniques, provide documented and coaching feedback, practical demonstration of "how to do it right".
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
- The employee will be required to wear respirator with welding hood or PAPR hood to perform work, along with PPE to keep themselves safe from hazards. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The base salary range for this position in North Carolina is $89,300- $105,000. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
