The Wave of Columbia, a new residential, detox, and mental health facility, is seeking compassionate and dedicatedWellness Support Technicians (WST)to join our care team. WSTs provide direct client support, ensuring a safe and supportive environment while fostering recovery and personal growth. This role is critical in helping clients navigate their treatment journey, serving as both a resource and role model throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities Client Support & Supervision
Provide 24/7 supervision and support to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being within the facility.
Assist clients with daily living activities, including adherence to schedules, self-care routines, and participation in therapeutic activities.
Monitor client behavior and report observations or concerns to the clinical and nursing teams.
Therapeutic Engagement
Foster positive, therapeutic relationships with clients by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental support.
Facilitate or assist with group activities such as mindfulness exercises, recreational therapy, or life-skills training.
Encourage and support clients in meeting treatment goals as outlined in their individual care plans.
Crisis Management
De-escalate situations involving heightened emotions, providing a calming presence and appropriate interventions.
Collaborate with clinical staff to manage crises, including potential medical or mental health emergencies, per facility protocols.
Documentation & Communication
Accurately document client activities, behaviors, and incidents in shift reports.
Maintain clear and professional communication with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in staff meetings and trainings to stay informed on best practices and client progress.
Facility Operations
Perform regular safety checks of the facility and assist in maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Administer and monitor client activities, including meal times, recreation, and bedtime routines.
Ensure compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and state regulations.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or residential care is preferred.
Skills & Attributes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to compassionate care.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crises professionally.
Attention to detail and proficiency in documentation.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Certifications
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
This position is based in a residential and detox treatment facility.
Requires the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and manage physically demanding situations when necessary.
