Job Description - WIC Clerk

Now Hiring: WIC Clerk


Full-Time (40 hours per week)


                                                                                                   


 


The Cambridge-Guernsey County Health Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented WIC Clerk to support the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. This position plays a vital role in assisting WIC participants and ensuring efficient clinic operations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be compassionate, and be committed to providing excellent customer service in a public health setting.


 


Clerk Duties: 



  • Greet and assist clients in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Schedule and confirm WIC appointments.

  • Perform eligibility screenings and data entry in the WIC system.

  • Verify participant identification and required documentation.

  • Issue food benefits using the WIC electronic system.

  • Answer phone calls and provide general information about WIC services.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

  • Support nutrition staff with clerical tasks as needed.

  • Assist with outreach and participant engagement efforts.

  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Completion of at least a high school degree.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an office setting.

  • Advanced computer skills using PC-based software and hardware (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Good communication skills with accuracy in spelling and grammar.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Ability to plan, organize and complete work accurately and on time.

  • Current valid driver’s license


 


Hiring salary: Starting at $14.00 an hour.  The health department offers an excellent fringe benefit package and is an equal opportunity employer.
