INTRODUCTION:
The WIC Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting health and wellness within the community. In this multifaceted position, you will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of individuals and families by providing essential nutrition services through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), as well as supporting efforts aimed at addressing various public health concerns.
Under the supervision of the Community Services Director of David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Clinic, the WIC Specialist will be responsible for assessing pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under five (5) years of age for eligibility in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. The incumbent will provide nutritional assessments, certify clients for the WIC program, and prescribe food packages following all applicable federal, state, and tribal program policies. The incumbent will provide basic health education to WIC clients and the Spokane Indian Reservation community. This position will also assist in implementing community-based health initiatives, working closely with other community service programs to deliver services and support health objectives.
