Position Summary


As a Tax Associate, you will be responsible for preparing individual, fiduciary, and entity tax returns, communicating with tax authorities and working with your engagement team to ensure work is prepared, reviewed, completed and timely filed ahead of all federal and state filing deadlines. Responsibilities



  • Prepare & review individual, partnership, flow-through entity, fiduciary, gift, and other various tax returns for clients

  • Prepare tax work papers, extensions, quarterly estimates, and tax research for clients

  • Research and analyze issues in connection with the preparation, review, and delivery of tax returns and written tax advice

  • Perform all aspects of engagement tasks assigned under oversight of senior staff and maintain minimum client contact

  • Assist Senior Associate and Manager with tax return compliance and consulting projects

  • Stay current on latest tax law changes as well as the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, Circular 230, State Board of Accountancy, and Franchise Tax Board regulations

  • Maintain an extremely high level of confidentiality regarding all client matters



Qualifications



  • At least one year in public accounting and/or equivalent experience in corporate finance or accounting;

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university (including eligibility to sit for the CPA Exam) by December 2025

  • Strong tax research skills, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to prioritize responsibilities, multitask in fast-paced environments, and work successfully in independent and team settings

  • Plans to obtain the CPA designation (California, Oregon or New York preferred)

  • Ability to work extended hours during busy times (February-April, August-October)

  • Ability to manage multiple large projects concurrently

  • Ability to build and maintain a proactive, professional relationship with teams


Desired Qualifications



  • CPA, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, and/or Master's in Taxation (MST/MBT) from an accredited college/university

  • Experience with venture capital, private equity, and hedge funds

  • Systems: GoSystems, Checkpoint RIA, Microsoft Office (advanced excel capabilities)


Apercen is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role for those assigned and/or hired to work in for New York City Metro Area, Colorado, Washington State, and California. The salary range for all localities is $85,000 - $89,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, certifications, skills and geography.
