Job Description - Workers Compensation Coordinator








The Workers Compensation Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the daily operations of the Workers' Compensation (WC) Program within the practice. This position collaborates closely with physicians, case managers, and staff to schedule and coordinate care for WC patients, ensuring effective communication and seamless patient care. The Coordinator oversees the collection and maintenance of accurate and complete documentation for all WC cases.


A strong knowledge of medical terminology, Workers' Compensation program guidelines, and South Carolina state regulations is required. The Coordinator manages all incoming and outgoing calls, referrals, and authorizations related to WC patients and is responsible for gathering, verifying, and submitting information required for claims processing.


Additionally, the Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for WC patients, physicians, and staff, facilitating clear and timely communication. This role also plays a key part in the marketing, outreach, and development of the WC Program, including building relationships with local industry leaders and stakeholders.

  • Promote the WC program to local industries and insurance carriers, increasing awareness and fostering partnerships.




  • Liaison between physicians, employers, case managers, patients, and insurance carriers




  • Invoice and schedule all WC IMEs, second opinions, and all new WC appointments




  • Precert all medical treatment for WC department patients







Work Experience


Required Experience:

1 to 2 years





  • 1-2 years of medical office experience




  • 1 year of workers compensation experience







Physical Demands and Work Environment




  • Physical demands are light to moderate, involving prolonged sitting and repetitive hand motions. Lifting nothing greater than 5 - 7 pounds.




  • Fast-paced in an office work environment










Education





Required Education Level:

High School





  • Associate Degree (Preferred)
