Job Description - WorkPlace Banking Program Lead

Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The WorkPlace Banking Program Lead will serve as a growth-focused ambassador for 1st Bank Yuma. This role is responsible for generating new leads, developing a strong local referral network, and driving income-producing strategies by building long-term relationships with local businesses and community partners. Actively promote 1st Bank Yuma’s suite of banking solutions directly to employees of local businesses through onsite visits, financial wellness presentations, and strategic events. Success in this role is driven by your ability to open new doors, cultivate partnerships, meet growth targets, and 1st Bank Yuma as a visible leader in the communities we serve. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Lead Generation & Relationship Development 

  • Generate and manage a pipeline of new business through proactive outreach to local employers, business owners, and community influencers.
  • Build a sustainable referral system through partnerships with branch managers, commercial lenders, payroll/merchant service teams, and other internal stakeholders.  
  • Maintain active prospecting routines to meet and exceed member growth and income generation goals.

WorkPlace Banking Strategy

  • Meet monthly and quarterly targets for new workplace partnerships and enrolled members. 
  • Develop customized banking presentations aligned with employer benefits packages. 
  • Serve as the lead contact for implementing WorkPlace Banking programs with new business partners.

Community Engagement 

  • Represent 1st Bank Yuma at local community events, nonprofit boards, chambers, school districts, and other civic organizations to increase brand awareness and trust.
  • Coordinate and host financial education seminars, tabling events, and local sponsorships. 
  • Foster partnerships with Community-based businesses and organizations to elevate 1st Bank Yuma’s community footprint.

Cross-functional Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with internal teams including Business Banking, Commercial Services, and Retail to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Support regional growth initiatives, including college campus acquisition efforts when needed
  • Share market feedback and coaching insights to support continuous improvement in regional outreach strategies.        

Compliance & Oversight 

  • Ensure that all offsite activities follow compliance standards and internal policies, including those related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and NMLS registration if applicable. Deliver formal and informal WPB training for frontline branch staff. 

Travel

  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% within Arizona, with a focus on the Yuma County region. • Adheres to Core Values and promotes Value Driven Culture at all times.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in business development, relationship management, or financial services sales, preferably in a community-based or regional market.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting measurable sales, member acquisition, or income targets.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of retail banking products, business banking products, services, and delivery channels.
  • Comfortable working independently, while also thriving in a team environment.
  • Deep understanding and appreciation of community engagement and event participation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and across the state as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This role is dynamic and may evolve over time. Employees are expected to perform additional responsibilities as requested and maintain compliance with all 1st Bank Yuma policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Bachelor’s in Business or related field or 5+ years equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Employee may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet; frequent interruptions during the day; average office environment in regard to temperature and lighting, occasional need to work off-site or outdoors; Some city, or state travel may be required.

MENTAL DEMANDS

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

CHARACTERISTICS: Positive attitude; Must be self-motivated and able to function independently in a multi-task environment while also taking direction and working as part of a team. Must possess a high level of integrity, recognizing the need for discretion and confidentiality. Must be able to tactfully handle all situations and remain impartial. A collaborative work style is required.
