Workshop 1 Supervisor - Night Shift

Position Summary:

The Workshop 1 (WS1) Supervisor/Lead is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, cost and providing guidance, support and mentorship to all employees in the WS1 department. This position is also responsible for all daily reporting (excel, Paylocity, visual boards and ERP Systems), attendance daily quality meeting and participation in implementation of root cause analysis and countermeasure. Coaching, counseling, and corrective action for WS1 team members to identify and improve performance in all areas of cost.

Major Function and Scope:

• Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Wellmade Flooring; promote and support a safe work environment and safety-oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines.
• Ensure quality is maintained and improved with a zero-defect mindset.
• Exhibit active leadership to model and support the company’s vision and strategies.
• Continuously build relationships with team members in all areas of responsibility.
• Keep other departments informed of delays or changes in production schedule.
• Work with the management to maintain the department’s labor and expense budget and ensure expenses are within the budget (this includes all the needed document turned on daily and/or as needed).
• Provide leadership to department team members.
  • Develop and implement adequate cross-training.
  • Communicate and ensure expectations and responsibilities are known and followed.
  • Manage employee performance with clear expectations, coaching and counseling to change behavior and performance. Corrective actions (discipline) in regard to company polices and prepare and deliver employee performance reviews with HR and/or Manager.
• Problem solving execution and training team.
• Respond to emergency situations during and after standard hours to resolve issues that may arise.
• Continuously review and analyze the quality of extruded product meets company/customer standards.
• Support and improve quality systems and expectations
• Responsible for all attendance, time off request, unscheduled overtime request for WS1.

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience and Competencies:

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in business management, manufacturing or related program preferred
• 5+ years of manufacturing experience required
• 5+ years of Extrusion experience preferred
• 5+ years of leadership experience required
• 3 to 5 years of hard surface flooring experience preferred
• Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to recognize safety concerns
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses use of alternative solutions
• Work flexible hours, overtime, and on-call
• Ability to lead and influence others

Physical Requirements/ Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
• Standing, Walking, Bending required most of the shift.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Previous extrusion experience required.
• Must be able to pass background check.
