Job Description - Worksite Case Specialist

Description

Job Summary

The Case Specialist provides administrative support to the Worksite Underwriting Specialist while also assisting with some phases of the accurate and timely processing of VSTD/Group business and Worksite business to include application opening, indexing, underwriting and issue.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Enters data from paper insurance policy applications into policy administration system.
  • Assists with entering approved Worksite groups into policy administration system, as needed.  
  • Issuance of accurate Worksite insurance policies, based on the application submitted and the information determined through underwriting.  
  • Collaboration with underwriters to prioritize and organize workloads, ensuring the timely processing of all policy applications.
  • Facilitate the sales process through timely, service-oriented handling of individual mortality and/or morbidity risk according to established Company underwriting philosophy and standards in order to render reasonable and justifiable decisions.
  • Approve policies within published limits not to exceed Guaranteed, Modified or Simplified underwriting.
  • Personally manage and process an assigned case load between 10 and 30 new business applications per day with a pending case load not to exceed 150 applications while supporting your underwriting and sales team including brokers, agents and enrollment entities.
  • Review Employee applications for insurance within the Worksite Product Suite.
  • Resolve for missing, incomplete or ambiguous information, and follow up on pending requirements, when necessary.
  • Assure qualification for requested benefits not to exceed published limits
  • Render final decision and notify agent when reduced or declined coverage.
  • Assist with handling of replacement notifications in accordance with NAIC regulations, as needed.
  • Maintain established service level objectives for turnaround times on all business processing, with the inclusion of telephone and email correspondence.
  • Meet or exceed established quality and quantity of work standards.
  • Comply with established rules, procedures, regulations and laws.
  • Demonstrate reliability, integrity, and a positive attitude.
  • Use sound judgement throughout all job-related tasks.
  • Provide assistance to Worksite case managers, as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities/cross-training as necessary due to departmental work flows and staff absences.

  

Anticipated Salary: $40,000 - $41,600

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred.*
  • Degree preferences: Insurance, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Worksite Case Manager role
  • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, think independently, and perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a diverse team.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn on your own to supplement training provided.
  • Basic computer skills with ability to accurately type 40-45 words per minute.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Career and customer-service oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Program Suite.

*College or university must be sufficiently accredited and listed in the U.S. Department of Education Accreditation Directory.
