Position Summary
The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading contemporary worship services and music ministries of the church, including the Adult Worship Team and Youth Praise Team. This individual plays a vital leadership role in the spiritual life of the church and is expected to demonstrate a clear, God-ordained calling to worship ministry, seeking God’s guidance in all decisions and leadership responsibilities.
Accountability & Relationships
The Worship Leader will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee with indirect supervision from the Deacons. The Worship Leader is ultimately responsible to the church body and will be a member of the Vision Team. Scheduled meetings with the Senior Pastor for input, scheduling, feedback, and planning are expected, as well as regular meetings with the Vision Team, Worship Team, and Youth Praise Team to plan and coordinate their assistance in ministry.
Key Responsibilities
Worship Leadership & Planning
Plan and lead Christ-centered contemporary worship services that support the church’s mission and vision
Prepare and distribute the weekly order of service to pastors and the bulletin coordinator by Wednesday morning
Plan and schedule volunteers for worship services using Planning Center, PraiseCharts, Multitracks/Playback, and ProPresenter
Remain current with contemporary worship music and trends, introducing new music regularly (at least one new song every 6–8 weeks)
Coordinate the Youth Praise Team to lead Sunday morning worship an average of 1–2 times per quarter
Conduct and/or coordinate weekly rehearsals for the Adult Worship Team and Youth Praise Team
Distribute music and rehearsal materials at least one week in advance
Foster a positive, encouraging, and growth-oriented rehearsal environment
Actively recruit and develop volunteers for worship and music ministries
Coordinate leadership for VBS music and other seasonal programs
Ministry Collaboration & Outreach
Support worship and music needs for church ministries and events, including (but not limited to):
Kids Praise
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Base Camp
Summit Kids
Youth events
Block parties and outreach events
Funerals
Weddings
Plan and participate in worship-centered outreach events designed to reach the unchurched and strengthen believers
Administration
Promote music and worship ministry activities through church announcements, bulletin, website, social media, and other communication channels
Coordinate facility use for worship and music activities through the church calendar
Prepare and submit worship and music-related budget information to the Finance Team
Prepare a monthly worship calendar including Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, and special services, etc
Technical & Facility Responsibilities
Coordinate preparation of lyric and sermon slides using ProPresenter for Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night services
Be present at the church at least 30 minutes prior to worship services and practices and remain at least 30 minutes afterward to secure the building
General Expectations
The Worship Leader and family will be expected to become active members of the church body and participate in church services, activities, and outreach
Once worship plans are approved, the Worship Leader is empowered to implement them with the support of the Worship Team
Perform additional duties as needed to support the overall ministry of the church
Time Commitment
Expected to devote 40 hours per week on-site to ministry responsibilities
Weekly hours may include planning, preparation, rehearsals, meetings, and worship services
Workload may vary week to week depending on ministry needs
Compensation & Benefits
Weekly salary based on experience
Vacation Days: 2 weeks annually
Sick Leave: Up to 4 compensated sick days per year
