Schedule - 40 hours weekly, working Monday thru Friday, 8-hour shifts

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Wound Care Nurse & Infection Preventionist is to develop, implement, monitor and supervise the restorative nursing philosophy. To evaluate, assess, treat, creating care plans in collaboration with the providers. Monitor the quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to health care associated (HAI) infections; collects prepares and analyzes HAI infection and surveillances data; presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions. Monitors employee compliance in use of PPE and use of transmission precautions barriers and infection prevention measures; prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff and serves as a resource to all departments and personnel.          

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

• Current licensure in the state of employment as a RN and current licensure.


• A knowledge of and interest in the care of the geriatric resident.


• Management experience preferred.


• Cooperative ability to work with a team.


• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.


• Understanding of Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Infection Control and OSHA requirements.


• Wound Care experience and certification preferred.


• CDC certification preferred or completed upon hire within ninety (90) days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Works with staff in developing tools appropriate to perform QAPI audits and participates in QAPI process and audits. Completes monthly/quarterly indicator lists and utilizes this information to problem solve, as necessary.


• Direct and oversee day-to-day functions of the nursing staff and nursing manager to ensure compliance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long-term care facility.


• Attends required in-services and completes assigned on-line modules.


• Provide leadership that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for assigned nursing staff.


• Make daily rounds on the skilled assigned unit to assure that nursing service personnel are performing required duties and to assure that appropriate nursing care, infection control and wound care is being provided and assess staff for training needs.


• Provide excellent nursing care to patients suffering from wounds.


• Complete weekly wound rounds with the wound care physician. Ensure all company policies and product protocols are being followed.
