Yard Associate- Inventory Specialist

The Yard Associate - Inventory Specialist will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the heavy equipment yard. This role involves managing inventory, assisting with equipment logistics, esuring that all materials,products, and supplies are properly accounted for incliding the tool/supply items and organization, and ensuring a clean and safe yard environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. 

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Handling and Management:

• Load and unload heavy equipment using forklifts, cranes, and other machinery.


• Assist in the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment.


• Organize and store equipment and materials in designated areas.

 Inventory Tracking and Invoice Filing/Scanning to Account Manager:

• Maintain accurate inventory records against the database file for inventory management.
  


• Track incoming and outgoing stock swaps and adjustments.


• Perform regular cycle counts and reconciliation of counts to ensure accuracy.
  

Stock Control:

• Monitor stock levels to ensure there’s enough product to meet demand.


• Identify shortages, overages, or discrepancies and report them to management.


• Implement procedures for minimizing inventory loss (to avoid a lost in revenue).
  

Receiving & Shipping:

• Verify the accuracy of shipments received and shipped.


• Check quantities, quality, and condition of goods. 


• Coordinate with yard associates or management staff for efficient shipment procedures.

. Auditing & Cycle Counts:

• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts.


• Example: Mon- Forks, Tues Carriages, Weds- Cam Kits, Road Kits and Immobilizers, Thurs- Damage Parts Fri- Reconciliation


• Investigate and resolve count discrepancies. 


• Assist monthly 15th Inventory Counts

 Process Improvement:

• Recommend and help implement improvements to inventory control procedures. Work closely with account manager and site teams.
  


• Use data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or recurring issues.

Coordination & Communication:

• Work closely with account manager and site teams.


• Communicate effectively about inventory needs, shortages, and expected arrivals.
  

Yard Maintenance:

• Ensure the yard is clean, organized, and free of hazards.


• Perform routine maintenance tasks on the yard and equipment.


• Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment as required.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.


• Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Yard Manager.


• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Customer Service:

• Assist customers and contractors with equipment pickup and drop-off.


• Provide excellent customer service and address customer inquiries professionally.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Previous experience in a yard or warehouse environment preferred.


• Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, cranes) safely and efficiently.


• Attention to detail and accuracy


• Excel & Google Sheet experience


• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.


• Basic understanding of inventory management systems.


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.


• Valid driver's license

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to various weather conditions.


• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.


• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.


• Some overtime and weekend work can and will be required due to business demands.
