Position Overview

The Yard Attendant will be responsible for propane cylinder handling, filing, inspection and general maintenance. They will play a critical role in maintaining and orderly and safe yard environment while assisting customers with propane-related needs.

Essential Functions

• Fill propane cylinders for walk-in customers and company exchange stock
• Inspect propane cylinders to ensure they are in-date and meet safety requirements
• Conduct recertification of propane cylinders in accordance with regulations 
• Assist customers with propane-related inquiries and product information
• Answer customer questions regarding cylinder use and propane safety 
• Performa routine maintenance and safety checks on propane dispensing equipment
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including the use of PPE
• Occasional driving for pickup and delivery of propane-related supplies 
• Follow company y safety protocols to ensure compliance with hazardous materials regulations
• Participate in monthly safety meetings to maintain knowledge of best practices 

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to operate a forklift (certification preferred but can be obtained on the job)
• Previous customer service experience preferred
• Effective and positive communication with internal and external customers, both orally and in writing
• Professional and clean appearance in adherence to company policies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job successfully.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. As well as stand on his or her feet for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

 This is a full-time non-exempt position, overtime-eligible, and on-site.
