Job Description - Yard Foreman needed in The Great State of Indiana

Location: Brownsburg, Indiana

Pay Range: $26-30/hr. (based on experience)

Monday – Friday, 1^st Shift (Flexible)
40hrs/wk. (ability to work overtime, when needed)

The Yard Foreman reports directly to the Yard Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lumber yard, ensuring that materials are properly stored, organized, and prepared for shipping. This role requires leadership, attention to safety standards, and a deep knowledge of lumber products and yard operations. The Yard Foreman supervises yard staff and coordinates logistics to ensure efficient and timely fulfillment of customer orders.

Day to Day

Coordinate the loading and unloading of shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliveries and receiving.
Lead and manage the daily activities of the yard team, ensuring efficient organization, safety, and productivity.
Train, mentor, and manage yard staff, providing direction on best practices and troubleshooting issues. Assign tasks and monitor performance.
Oversee inventory control, including the receipt, storage, and organization of lumber and related materials.

Skill Set

Great Attitude and a Team Player!
3+ years of experience in a lumber yard or similar outdoor environment; prior supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), and stand for extended periods of time.
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to manage a team effectively
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient with inventory management systems and basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment safely
