Yard Helper

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. Qualifications:

1.1. A High School diploma or equivalent.

1.2. Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating hand tools and hand held technical devices.

1.4. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and yard instruments is a plus.

1.5. Must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

2. Responsibilities:

2.1. Assist in the transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

2.2. Follow the Forklift operator’s instruction during transfers and housekeeping operations.

2.3. Employee will assist in the verification of all loading and unloading of material for quality assurance.

2.4. Assists in Inventory Control for verification of counts and material.

2.5. The employee is responsible for the assisting of racking of material per instruction.

2.6. Communicating to Yard Lead-Man any problems with material, racks, or trucks.

2.7. Ensure the equipment to be operated is in good conditions.

2.8. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

3. Activities:

3.1. Employee must report to Yard Lead-man for production or Yard Supervisor for special projects on daily tasks.

3.2. Assist Forklift Operator with loading, unloading and verification of material.

3.3. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.

3.4. Perform 5 racks verification daily.

3.5. Complete the PIT checklist on a daily basis.

3.6. This position may require operating a powered industrial equipment (Buggie).

3.7. Other duties as assigned.

4. Authority and Obligation:

4.1. This position has the authority to stop Yard Operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety.
