Yard Manager - Manassas, VA

Reports To: Assistant Director, Field Operations

Responsibilities:

• The overall description of the position is related to management of the yard including both the personnel handling the material but also managing the material and location as well.
  
  
  
  • Updating daily inventory stock.
  
  
  • Ordering material as necessary once it hits a reorder threshold.
  
  
  • Organizing the yard daily - cleanliness, putting away material, etc.
  
  
  • Training and education of runners (yard personnel).
  
  
  • Performing preloads of all requested material.
  
  
  • Checking that all equipment is in working order prior to field issuance.
  
  
  • Working alongside the mechanic team when truck/trailer/equipment issues are found during yard management.
  
  
  • Managing runs (taking materials to and from jobsites as needed)
  
  
  • Closing of the yard (ensuring all vehicles and equipment are back when they are stored at the yard)
  
  
  • Submission of runner hours into production app.
  
  
  • Perform monthly audits of all yard equipment.
  
  
  • Special projects as assigned.
  
  
  
  

Requirements:

• Strong Organizational and Inventory Management Skills: Ability to efficiently manage equipment, materials, and supplies, ensuring proper tracking, storage, and maintenance to support ongoing projects.


• Leadership and Team Management: Experience supervising yard staff, coordinating workflows, and promoting a safe and productive work environment.


• Effective Communication and Coordination Skills: Ability to liaise with project managers, vendors, drivers, and field teams to facilitate smooth logistics and timely delivery of materials and equipment.


• Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

• Employee must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).


• Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.


• Other physical requirements include walking, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
