Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, &; EDUCATION)

• Demonstrated ability (minimum 3 years) leading a young adult ministry or program that effectively helps young adults grow in their relationship with Jesus.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, cast, and implement a vision that moves a church or organization in a positive direction.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Biblical truth in an accurate, relevant way to a young adult audience.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead strategically is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to select, build, and lead successful, productive teams.
• Highly relational—ability to interact with a variety of people in a variety of circumstances
• Desire to continue to grow spiritually and in work proficiency required.
• Self-motivation and commitment to excellence is required.
• Ability to effectively manage conflict or other tense/sensitive situations.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• A committed Christian living a life of obedience; beliefs consistent with NPHX Church statement of faith.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
• Familiarity with computer and general technology is required.
• Bachelor Degree required. Post-graduate degree preferred.
• Must be/become a member of NPHX Church

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Evaluation criteria based on these responsibilities listed on review forms)

Pastoral Leadership of Young Adult Ministry: ~60%

• Lead and oversee NPHX Church’s young adult ministry strategy and tactics to reach and equip young adults.
• Spend time with young adults to understand their lives, hurts, challenges, and opportunities.
• Teach Biblical truth in an accurate, relevant way to a young adult audience.
• Study and prepare for upcoming teachings.
• Design, program and execute a monthly, engaging worship gathering for young adults throughout the year.
• Lead the team to effectively provide Connect Groups and a Connect Group structure within the young adult ministry.
• Create fun and engaging “hang out” type of events to happen throughout the year.

Team Building: ~25%

• Recruit/mentor/empower/equip a team of volunteers to serve on Sunday mornings throughout different ministries (such as hospitality, kids, students, etc.)
• Recruit/mentor/empower/equip a team of young adults to lead connect groups of their peers.
• Onboard new members consistent with vision, values, and character of NPHX Church.
• Equip volunteers with needed information, tools, skills, and environments to effectively lead.

Department Leadership: ~10%

• Develop an annual calendar of events for responsible areas of ministry.
• Prepare an annual budget that reflects the goals, objectives and programs of the ministry.
• Set, attain, and report on growth and ministry goals.
• Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place and followed for a safe and secure ministry environment.
• Collaborate with other ministry departments.
• Research current events, culture, and community issues that relate to and/or affect ministries under your supervision.
• Participate in general expectations of ministry staff such as staff meetings, team assignments, etc.
• Train and supervise interns and residents as assigned.

NPHX Church at large Pastoral/Ministerial Functions: ~5%

• Participate and lead in communion and baptism services in addition to performing weddings and presiding over funerals when requested.
• Provide crisis care (in conjunction with others on the pastoral/care teams) as assigned to those who are experiencing spiritual, emotional, or physical crisis. 
• Teach, facilitate, or train at events as requested.
• Encourages spiritual focus and commitment by modeling the core values of NPHX Church.
• Manages and directs others under care.
• Should be involved in the in-depth mentoring of others with the express goal of multiplying ministry.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor – not to exceed 5%
