YMCA of Columbia-Willamette Areas of Impact Description Branch/Region: Beaverton Family YMCA - West Region 

Job Status: Full-Time Work Schedule: 40 hours per week – with some evening/weekend hours required on occasion when connected to youth programs. 

Positions Supervised: Youth Development Associate Level 1 Staff 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Youth Development Coordinator (Volleyball Lead) will lead in all areas of seasonal program development, management and execution for the West Region volleyball category offense – including skills development agenda (clinics, camps and lessons) and platforms for competition (leagues, club team practices and tournaments). 

The Youth Development Coordinator oversees the policies, procedures and organization of specific West Region youth sports programs. The Youth Development Coordinator also assists the Youth Development Director with program expansion, recruiting, hiring, training and supervising Associate 1 Level staff, and YMCA Volunteers.

Essential Functions

• Own and drive all youth sport program details (from development through execution) for volleyball category. 

• Hire, train, and supervise a team of Associate 1 Level Staff (Coaches, Monitors, etc.) 

• Create and manage staff and program rosters/schedules (Rosters, practices, game and tournament schedules, etc.) 

• Responsible for clear and prompt communication with all staff teammates, program participants and volunteers. 

• Perform regular and frequent program observations, ensuring high quality program using YMCA best practices. 

• Regularly monitor seasonal fiscal plans to ensure financial success of YMCA Youth Sports Programs. 

• Work with Youth Development Director to innovate Youth Sports Programs in the West Region. 

• Learn the functions of multiple computer software products including Daxko and Playerspace (training will be provided). 

• Promote philanthropic community campaign efforts within the YMCA Columbia-Willamette West Region. 

Additional Functions

• Participate in staff meetings (regional and corporate) and departmental functions. 

• Occasionally assist the Youth Development Director in other various Youth Development program areas. 

• Ability to work well in high stress situations, responding properly to complaints, critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergency situations. 

• Must be able to establish harmonious relations with staff team, volunteers, donors, school districts, and local partners. 

• Ability to assemble and manage large programs within the West Region’s budget and goals. 

• Provide excellent customer service to program participants. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Must pass YMCA background check. 

• Must be connected to the sport and universe of volleyball - with a deep knowledge and love for the sport. In addition, must possess an established network of relationships within the volleyball community to leverage in helping to create and build a holistic and thriving program / category offense. 

• Prior work experience with Youth Sports program implementation preferred. 

• CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment. CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment. 

• Reliable transportation to travel to sites across Region. 

• 2 years of working with youth in varying capacities. 

• 2 years of supervisory experience in varying capacities. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Work is a hybrid mix of in office and remote. At times, work will be performed outside of normal “work hours” or weekends, dependent on programs being offered.
