Department:  Children’s Services- Youth Intervention

Employment Type:  Full-Time

Schedule:  M-F, 40 hours

General Description

The Youth Intervention Program Supervisor is expected to model professionalism, empathy, accountability, and a commitment to empowering youth and families through supportive intervention services that promote school success, emotional wellness, and positive community engagement. Oversee daily operations of the youth intervention program, ensuring services align with agency goals, state regulations, and evidence-based practices. Monitors program performance and youth outcomes, maintains accurate documentation and compliance, and supports program development, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Staff Supervision

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to youth intervention specialists, current and retired law enforcement mentors, and support staff. 
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings, performance evaluations, and staff development activities. 
  • Assist staff in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and case consultation. 
  • Ensure staff maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and trauma-informed practices. 
  • Support employee retention and foster a positive team environment. 

Youth & Family Support

  • Assist with high-risk or complex youth cases as needed. 
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for youth experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. 
  • Support family engagement and collaborative problem-solving with caregivers. 
  • Ensure individualized service plans address academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. 

School & Community Collaboration

  • Build and maintain partnerships with school districts, probation officers, social services, mental health providers, and community organizations. 
  • Participate in school meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and community coalitions. 
  • Advocate for youth and families to access appropriate educational and community resources. 

Data & Compliance

  • Monitor attendance records, case documentation, incident reports, and service delivery data. 
  • Prepare reports for leadership, funding sources, and community stakeholders. 
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, and agency policies. 
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Education, or related field required.

Credentials: LMSW preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working with at-risk youth, adolescents, or family intervention services. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of truancy prevention, adolescent development, behavioral interventions, trauma-informed care, and community resources. Strong crisis management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with schools, families, and multidisciplinary teams.  Relevant years of experience and education will be considered

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with restorative practices and positive youth development models. 
  • Understanding of educational systems, attendance policies, and juvenile justice systems. 
  • Ability to engage resistant or high-risk youth and families. 
  • Strong documentation and case management skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations. 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines 
  • Excellent verbal/written skills
  • Possession a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
  • Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques. 
  • Ability to work evening or occasional weekend hours. 
  • Ability to respond to crisis situations and travel within the service area.
