Position Summary

The Youth Peer Service Specialist provides peer support, youth engagement, care coordination, mentorship, and group facilitation services to adolescents and young adults ages 16–25. The position supports youth through Alternative Peer Group programming, wellness planning, educational and vocational exploration, life-skills development, and connection to community resources. The specialist is also responsible for community outreach collaborating with key stakeholders for referral and community supports.  The specialist uses professional and lived experience, strengths-based approaches, and positive youth development principles to foster resilience, leadership, and healthy peer relationships.

Essential Job Functions

Direct Client Services

• Assess youth needs and deliver care coordination based on needs.
• Develop Wellness and Employment plans with clients.
• Document all client activities within Electronic Medical Records.
• Maintain HIPAA and 42 CFR Compliance at all times.
• Strong command of ethical responsibility in nativating boundaries with vulnerable populations.
• Ability to identify and escalate ethical considerations for appropriate support and supervision
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques when delivering peer services.
• Perform Medicaid billing and compliance within delivering services.

Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW)

• Maintain licensure within the OPLC guidelines. 
• Document and retain supervision records for licensure and renewal purposes.
• Attend mandatory supervision sessions.

Program Support & Collaboration

• Participate in team meetings, learning collaboratives, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the development of all programming.
• Maintain performance indicators and contribute to program reporting and compliance.
• Exhibit qualities of dependability, empathy, respect, and maintain a positive working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of individuals with a goal of wellness and employment.
• Develop, grow and maintain relationships with community partners. 
• Complete timely and accurate documentation of work with individuals.
• Meet or exceed Key Performance Metrics. 

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors preferred
• High School Diploma, GED, or HiSET required
• CRSW Licensure
• Direct or indirect lived experience with Substance Use and/or Mental Health
• Trained in Motivational Interviewing
• Knowlegable with Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiatives
• Reliable transportation
