Job Description - Youth Program Assistant

UUCLB seeks an assistant for our Religious Education program for children, youth and families. This is an up to 6 hour a week part-time position, with some onsite hours required Sunday mornings 9-11:30 am and flexibly during the week. Please check out our program online at https://www.uuclb.org/learn/childrenyouthandfamilies/ Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions or for more information about the position, program or community. Education and Skills:



  • An affinity for working with children and youth of all ages and their parents/ guardians/ caregivers

  • a commitment to supporting Unitarian Universalism as a progressive spiritual community

  • High degree of organization 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to use multiple technologies (Google drive, Canva, Constant Contact, online database and social media)

  • Commitment to safety and following church policies

  • Experience or knowledge of working with children and youth with neurodiversity, autism, and behavioral support for learning disabilities 



Basic Responsibilities:



  • Assist teachers in Sunday morning classroom sessions 

  • Facilitate weekly registration and attendance process

  • Organize and confirm Sunday staffing (Nursery, teaching teams, etc.) 

  • Coordinate weekly program needs with teachers and RE Committee

  • Set up, clean up and close/lock the classroom and facilities 

  • Purchase snacks and other program supplies

  • Set up and tear down program signs/ carts/ etc.  

  • Organize Religious Education office, library, curricula and materials. 

  • Assist with holidays, events, and special projects.

  • Assist Director in maintaining Safer Congregation and onsite safety protocols

  • Create, print and place weekly RE program directional signs

  • Represent the Religious Education program to families and congregation

  • Complete other clerical duties when requested, that are deemed necessary by the supervisor.
