Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for children’s literature and a flair for retail-style presentation? Do you love the challenge of curating engaging collections that inspire young readers and their families? 

The Glenview Public Library is looking for an energetic, forward-thinking Youth Services Collection Manager to shape our expansive youth collection and lead innovative purchasing, merchandising, and promotional strategies.

As a key member of the Youth Services leadership team, you’ll manage our collection development staff and help oversee the daily operations of the Youth Services Department—ensuring the shelves are stocked with books that ignite learning and possibilities and where every child can find themselves and discover something new. Using a bookstore-inspired approach, you’ll make collections more accessible, inviting, and relevant to today’s young patrons.

The pay range for this position is $65,588 to $76,850 annually depending on qualifications. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of this position include:

· Hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines, and supervises assigned staff 

· Develops strategic goals, policies, and procedures for the Youth Collections Team 

· Oversees and participates in materials selection and weeding; prepares and allocates the materials budget; identifies, explores, and tracks trends and data to guide collection decisions; and establishes long range goals to strengthen and promote specific collection areas 

· Assists and advises patrons at a public services desk 

· May be designated in charge of Youth Services Department in the absence of the Deputy Director 

· May serve as Person in Charge by interpreting and implementing library policies and working closely with the security monitors and staff to resolve issues 

Education/Experience/Qualifications 

· Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited school. 

· Minimum three years professional library experience. 

· One-two years supervisory experience preferred. 

· Experience in collection development, collection promotion, and customer service applicable to youth and families desired 

· Supervisory experience including feedback, coaching and development of staff 

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative, courteous working relationships with a multicultural/multigenerational library staff and patron population 

· High level of interest in and knowledge of youth collection management and readers advisory services and practices 

· Knowledge and understanding of products, services, and current trends and issues in library practices relevant to youth and families 

· Able to set goals, delegate, and communicate expectations in a productive way 

· Can listen, analyze, problem solve, and exercise good judgement when handling both routine and non-routine issues 

· Successfully handles multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. 

· Works independently and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines. 

· Adaptable to changes in existing practices, library routines, and workflows 

· Can operate a personal computer; has knowledge of ILS software. Email, Windows, Excel, and basic word processing functions. 

· Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
