Description Summary The Assistant Controller will manage A/P, invoicing & credit, and A/R functions and is actively involved in all aspects of the accounting operations of River Valleys. Primary responsibilities include oversight of all accounts, ledgers, bank reconciliations, month-end closes, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Finance and Accounting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Supervise team of 3 individuals • Prepare, process, and review detailed monthly financial statements for both internal and external use
• Oversee the processing and submission of invoices
• Manage and review general ledger account • Maintain investment activity • Monthly reconciliation of inventory and retail activity and act as liaison to Retail Services • Perform daily cash balancing and analysis • Assist Sr. Director of Finance & Accounting with budgeting and forecasting • Establish internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
• Ensure River Valleys complies with regulatory and in-house standards and best practices
• Coordinate financial audits with the Sr. Director of Finance and Accounting and CFO
• Assist with specific projects and financial analysis as requested
• Provide backup support to other accounting functions, as needed
• Train, develop, coach, and motivate department staff
• Drive proactive engagement/partnership with business units
• Additional responsibilities as determined by Sr. Director of Finance and Accounting and CFO
Additional Duties and Responsibilities - Collaborate with colleagues across the council. Actively participate in All Staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings
- When representing the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRV's desired image and position to all audiences
- Support the council's commitment to diversity of girls, volunteers, and staff and conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency
- Contribute to building a cohesive, flexible, and productive staff environment that demonstrates the values and mission of Girl Scouts and delivers high-quality customer service.

Qualifications Education and Experience Required: • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field • 7+ years' experience working in an accounting environment that involves multiple projects
• 3+ years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team Preferred: • Knowledge of non-profit accounting
