By virtue of academic degree, clinical training and license to practice and or professional credentialing, is qualified to provide a comprehensive array of professional services related to the prevention of hearing loss and the audiological identification, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of persons with impairment of auditory and vestibular function and to the prevention of impairments associated with them. Dispenses hearing aids and releases accessories. Functions as an independent practitioner who provides services in ENT settings, private practice, hospitals, clinics or school settings. What you will do
  • Attends key staff and physician meetings to keep informed of issues that may effect Audiology. Maintains open lines of communication with fellow providers. Contributes to agenda for quarterly meetings with Service Line Administrator.
  • Provides greater visibility and educational services to the community. Becomes more visible through marketing strategies including in-services, participation in health fairs, open houses, and more. Encourages team members and patients in hearing conservation with ever-increasing noise exposure. Maintains educational awareness through local media.
  • Optimizes cost-effectiveness of services provided and amplification devices and supplies while maintaining best practices in all areas.
  • Obtains and maintains tools to effectively and efficiently use Electronic Health Record for patient care. Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
  • Maintains equipment and remains informed of changing technology as it applies to the patient market (hearing aids and diagnostic equipment).
  • Interprets results of hearing evaluation data within the context of the patient's perceptual, social, and communicative needs. Identifies deficit areas and communicates this information clearly to the patient as the first step in rehabilitation. Determines patient's perceptual and communicative needs. Formulates, implements, and measures the efficacy of an audiological rehabilitation treatment plan. Together with the patient and significant others develops a rational treatment and monitoring plan, including the use of amplification, assistive listening devices, aural rehabilitation and counseling as indicated. Provides optimal care and quick turnaround time for appointment, as well as optimum availability for RMG referrals. Monitors and documents improvements to services and methods.
  • Family focus of counseling of hearing loss and use of amplification. Impact and influence of family's cultural background taken into consideration during patient encounters.
  • Increases market share in key areas while maintaining cost effectiveness. Offers additional staffing, marketing, and awareness of services to community and physicians.
  • Conducts hearing and balance evaluations for patients, including neonates, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Assesses the history, medical diagnosis, social and communicative condition of the patient through testing and interview to establish a basis for patient treatment. Understands otologic and neurologic diagnostic processes well enough to obtain audiological information that will help the physician distinguish between competing etiological entities in a given patient. Understands the theory behind established clinical protocols and can modify diagnostic procedures to meet the needs of the patient without sacrificing test reliability or validity. Meets or exceeds best practice benchmarks in Audiology as outlined by ASHA and AAA. Maintains current knowledge of best practices to include published studies of current outcomes, research and guidelines, and evidence based research in all areas within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrates the commitment to quality/safety goals and standards. Reduces risk of harm and provides optimum infection control for patients. Maintains infection control through utilization of best practices, including disposable earphone covers, disposable ear tips, and appropriate sterilization methods.

  • Bachelors Degree, Audiology (Required)

Experience
  • 1-3 years Recent relevant experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed Audiologist - Virginia Department of Health Professions (Required)
  • Hearing Aid Dispenser (Required)
