Job Description - Bank Teller

Bank Teller Location Crawfordsville, IN :

TRI-COUNTY BANK & TRUST COMPANY

BANK TELLER

General Purpose: Accurately and efficiently process and record routine transactions for bank customers including cashing checks, accepting deposits and withdrawals, processing loan payments and money transfers. Promote and advise on the bank's products and services. Meets the needs of the customers by providing a high level of customer service.

Essential Functions & Duties

  • Greet customers when they arrive and direct them to the appropriate bank representative
  • Answer inbound phone calls in fast-paced work environment
  • Receive and count working cash at beginning of shift
  • Identify customers, validate, and cash checks
  • Accept cash and checks for deposit and check accuracy of deposit slip
  • Process cash withdrawals
  • Daily mail pick-up
  • Count and roll loose coins
  • Perform specialized tasks such as preparing cashier's checks, personal money orders
  • Perform services for customers such as ordering checks
  • Bi-weekly cash ordering
  • Receive and verify loan payments, mortgage payments and credit card payments
  • Record all transactions promptly, accurately and in compliance with bank procedures
  • Balance currency, cash, and checks in cash drawer at end of each shift
  • Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products
  • Attempt to resolve issues and problems with customer's accounts
  • Assist in closing accounts as required for customers
  • Promote bank products and services to customers
  • Identify referral opportunities and make relevant referrals
  • Process banking transactions for a high volume of customers
  • Redeem savings bonds and other financial instruments
  • Daily vault and ATM balancing
  • Filing bank documents
  • Introduce new customers to the platform and assist them with any balance transfers or other transactions
  • Learn and follow Bank's operation procedures to ensure compliance with all internal controls and established policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred 5+ years cash handling experience in a banking or retail setting
  • Preferred 1+ years banking experience
  • Some clerical, administrative, cash handling, sales or customer service experience preferred
  • Demonstrated exemplary organizational, problem resolution, decision making and communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files, coin bags, and open filing cabinets. Lifting capacity of up to 25 lbs. This position requires bending, stooping or standing, as necessary.

Expected Hours of Work

8-hour day shifts Monday-Friday, 4-hour day shifts Saturday, in rotation cycle

Travel

May be required at times to cover for other branches for planned or unexpected absences. Employees will be given as much notice as possible. Traveling will be done on a rotation basis.
