The bookstore manager works with the management team to ensure a lively welcoming store that reflects the diverse needs of the customers and neighborhood, both in-store and online. This role manages daily operations of the bookstore, including customer service, inventory, ordering coordination, and more. The manager also prepares necessary arrangements (ordering, staffing, technology, bank) for any off-site sales. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for creating and implementing new procedures and policies and effectively navigating any challenges that arise in the store. We are seeking someone with deep book knowledge, sales experience, and strong communication skills. Being an engaged partner in an active retail environment (Fields Corner) will help to build a supportive ecosystem for all. Food knowledge is an added value. This position reports to the Director of justBook-ish.

An excellent communicator: has the ability to communicate clearly, kindly, and confidently with team members and customers. In partnership with Words as Worlds’ event coordinator, oversee a monthly newsletter.
A facilitator: solutions-oriented with the ability to identify and solve bottlenecks to achieve desired outcome and interpret and anticipate the needs of others
A connector: will focus on figuring out how to better understand people and situations around them with a commitment to diversity, teamwork, and collaboration
Experienced in book industry purchasing with preference for someone with knowledge of international and translated works - expertise in book buying, gift buying, and merchandising
Computer savvy: familiar/experienced with Google Docs, Square, bookstore software, Constant Contact, and social media.
Familiar with a “people-first” approach to hospitality, welcoming to people with different abilities.

Flexible in schedule; weekends and holidays are required

Has high school diploma or the equivalent
Able to lift a box of up to 40 pounds
Salary:
$46,000-55,000, based on experience
