Job Description



Responsible for the creation of new designs, developments and techniques using combinations of materials and technologies to generate unique, innovative products for the Company. Quantifies and documents color requirements associated with products, programs and specified projects. Establishes standard operating procedures, sets up protocols and color matching standards for print processes associated with sublimated products and textiles. Review and assess new technologies, including print, sublimation, laser and lamination technologies, for future development and new products.

  • Assesses incoming requests to validate conformance to design parameters and technical specifications, particularly those related to color. Coordinates with merchandising, design and development to ensure the alignment of customer requirements and company capabilities.
  • Establishes color specifications and profiles for printed products. Develops and refines colors to meet product, program or project specifications.
  • Develops and evaluates color profiles for printed substrate materials. Establishes standard operating procedures and performs and documents set up parameters for print-related equipment, including printers, calendars and associated equipment, to ensure appropriate color development, color matching and color management in sampling and production of sublimated or printed products.
  • Prints or reviews printed samples for color correction and verifies printed color to ensure acceptance to industry standard, customer specification, graphic design or sales request. Identifies and understands how to quantify and correctly adjust color. Performs and documents color corrections as required.
  • Develops and executes work plans associated with research and development projects. Works in coordination with the R&D team to determine and develop new products and processes or to create new or modified products that provide a competitive advantage for the Company and its customers through product differentiation or improved quality, performance, cost or manufacturing efficiency. Performs and documents product testing; analyzes and evaluates test results to ensure Company objectives are accomplished and/or customer requirements are fulfilled.
  • Works as a part of a team in developing products for seasonal line launches of new techniques and materials. Utilizes company technologies, including various forms of printing, cutting and etching, to create innovative product offerings, utilizing new techniques or combining techniques, materials or components.
  • Works with product development in a coordinated effort to create prototypes and first article samples that maximize design elements, meet cost parameters and ensure manufacturability. Assists in the production of printed or sublimated sample requests. Researches, tests and documents as required.
  • Researches and develops new technologies, including those related to print, sublimation, laser or lamination. Attends trade shows and visits equipment and raw material suppliers as required to identify new potential technologies, trends, processes and materials. Supports Net Suite integration and Esko utilization.
  • Works as a part of a commercialization team to determine process steps, process settings, materials, usage restrictions and design rules by creating and processing prototype products and samples. Ensures that products are fully commercialized, that design parameters are coordinated with manufacturing methods and that configurators, templates and other documentation are complete prior to product introduction.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Graphic Design, Print Media or equivalent from four-year college or university; and a minimum of 3+ years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Technical experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: textiles, embroidery, printing, coating, adhesives, film or packaging. Experience with print processes associated with sublimated products and textiles, in apparel industry, a plus!
