Company: Established Bakery with 4 Locations in NYC

Location: New York City, NY

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 base salary + bonus (TBD) + Competitive Benefits

Benefits:

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to lead our diverse team and drive the strategic vision of our bakery. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a passion for fostering a positive work culture, and a strong background in financial management and operational planning.

  • PCQI certification required.
  • Someone strong with wholesale coming from similar concept in NYC.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Team:

    • Foster a positive work environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and teamwork among all employees.
    • Provide effective leadership to promote harmony among patrons, vendors, and staff.
    • Support and empower managers by providing opportunities for growth, implementing effective systems, and fostering a cohesive team culture.
    • Ensure that all voices within the team are heard and acknowledged, fostering inclusivity and mutual respect.
    • Guide managers in aligning their efforts with the our Bakery brand through employee practices, packaging, and overall customer experience.
    • Develop staff through ongoing assessments, individualized developmental plans, comprehensive training, and detailed procedural manuals.
    • Define clear job descriptions for every position and monitor managers' performance to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  2. Financial Management:

    • Manage the organization's operating budget and hold all departments accountable for operating within budgetary constraints.
    • Set short and long-term financial and production objectives in collaboration with the owner and in-house accountant.
    • Coordinate relationships between internal departments and external partners to achieve financial objectives effectively.
    • Organize monthly profit and loss meetings with accountants to evaluate financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement cost-effective control systems for operating expenditures and labor management, minimizing overtime expenses.
  3. Long-Term Institutional Planning: Building the Brand & Partnerships:

    • Cultivate and expand our Bakery brand by sourcing new workwear, packaging, and merchandise, ensuring consistency across all retail, wholesale, and online platforms.
    • Identify opportunities for brand expansion and growth across various channels and platforms.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with technicians for equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability.
    • Maintain strong relationships with the SSB Miami team to facilitate collaboration and synergy between locations.
  4. General Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all locations, prioritizing the well-being of customers and employees.
    • Make critical decisions considering risk management, unforeseen events, customer satisfaction, and employee concerns.
    • Lead the team in making clear and safe decisions during critical situations, fostering a culture of preparedness and responsiveness.

Skills and Specifications:

  • Excellent leadership skills to motivate and oversee employees effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to inspire through example.
  • Proficiency in French or Spanish is appreciated.
  • Good knowledge of business financial management principles.
  • Interest in baking fundamentals and equipment care.
  • Experience in promoting a positive and growth-oriented company culture.
  • PCQI certification required.
  • Proficiency in supply chain analytics.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, and financial stewardship, including labor and COGS management.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate contracts.
  • Extensive leadership experience, compassion, integrity, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • Mandatory bakery experience.
  • Successful experience in a similar role (Director of Operations of a large business).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
