Description The Driskill Hotel opened its doors in 1886 as one of the most luxurious Texas hotels in its day.Since its opening the hotel has been an integral part of the fabric in the city of Austin. The Associate Director of Events is an experienced senior level hotel events/sales role that reports directly to the Director of Sales Marketing and Events. Primary responsibility is to service group business, selling and planning events, including menu planning/upselling, agenda setting, working with departments for flawless execution. The role will oversee specific administrative responsibilities to include supervisory duties over part of the event's department, usually event sales & planning managers, coordinators/administrative assistants or trainees. This position will typically be required to carry and achieve a quota and service groups. Sales responsibilities include managing a key sales market through active retention, prospecting and networking, site visits, and sales calls. Responsibilities will also include, but not be limited to coaching, training, recruitment and hiring of sales/events team. This position is typically an 18 - 24-month commitment with a clear goal to experience the training and development necessary to become a future Director of Event Sales for Hyatt, including development opportunities in budgeting and business plan development, forecasting, owner's meetings and relations, and P&L management.
