Set to open in the Spring of 2023, Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU will amplify Tempe’s revitalized downtown area and bring some of the largest conference and meeting space to the city. The hotel will feature 330 guest rooms, including 11 suites, four dining outlets, a spacious pool deck, retail, and almost 36,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space with expansive views of the ASU campus and the Tempe cityscape. Whether you are looking for a destination for your weekend getaway, a meeting room or event space for a conference or wedding, or a night out at the multiple upscale restaurants, the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is sure to meet the needs of the most refined travelers.

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is seeking a Pastry Chef to join the culinary team of our brand-new upscale hotel. Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU will provide Tempe with 330 guest rooms, 36,000 square feet of event space and four new food and beverage outlets. Featuring a rooftop upscale restaurant and the largest ballroom in the area, we expect to provide elevated options for our guests for dining and entertainment.


So where does the Pastry Supervisor fit in? This role will be help build an award-winning culinary program that gives our guests one-of-a-kind experience. Working closely with the Banquet Chef and the Director of Food and Beverage, we expect that our chosen individual will be instrumental in helping build an amazing pastry program. As a hotel, we are focused on creating stellar menus with local flare.

  • Responsible for the supervision and management of all pastry department keep in mind this will be a growing with business department.
  • Complete knowledge of all baking and pastry products to ensure costs effective purchasing, production, minimal inventory is maintained.
  • Ability to operate all forms of baking equipment.
  • Perform managerial duties, including scheduling, training, developing, coaching and counseling, conducting reviews.
  • Build a great culture that improves retention, while motivating the associates by providing a safe and positive work environment.
  • Assist all Chefs in the creation, costing, and implementation of banquet, seasonal, and special menus.
  • Manage scheduling and labor deployment according to budget and business forecast.
  • Direct proper sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
  • Comply with EcoSure & health code standards for sanitation.
  • Work closely with purchasing to establish and maintain control of the standards for purchasing and receiving items while overseeing proper handling and tracing of food returns.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
  • 5+ years of pastry experience in an upscale hotel or resort.
  • Completion of a culinary degree or certificate program is preferred.
  • Candidate must be creative and up to speed on new concepts and food trends.
  • Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to train, develop, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to train a staff to produce high volumes of work while maintaining quality per Omni standards.
  • Able to set priorities for the pastry team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance.
  • Prior experience managing schedules, inventory, payroll, service recovery and associate relations matters required.
  • Must be proficient with computers.
  • Serve Safe certified food manager.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time, with frequent bending and twisting.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

 

*This position is a full-time, on-site position with no work from home flexibility.
