The primary goal of the Pharmacy Consultant is to be a subject-matter expert to MEDISCA’s cross-functional teams that are responsible for servicing and educating pharmacy team(s), as well as to clients, for all sterile compounding related needs. The incumbent will be interacting with internal teams and clients to provide direction and advice on regulatory compliance, standards of practice, analytical and microbiological testing, formulation chemistry, continuing education and our product portfolio (technology, equipment and reusable/disposable supplies). As a Pharmacy Consultant, you will be a Consultant for the US market. Ideally the Consultant is based in Texas, Florida and New York. Candidates in other US States may also be considered. Youhave:
- Comprehensive knowledge of current Federal regulatory guidelines; American required (e.g., DQSA, DEA, etc…) and Canadian an asset (e.g., POL 51, OCS, etc.).
- Comprehensive knowledge of current standards of practice in sterile compounding; USP required and NAPRA an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current standards of practice in non-sterile compounding; USP and NAPRA an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a consultant and subject-matter expert in the following areas (non-exhaustive list):
- Product Specialist (technology, equipment and reusable/disposable supplies)
- Scientific Principles in Compounding (e.g., dosage form stability and suitability)
- Pharmacy Calculations
- Facility Lab Design
- Risk Assessment Review and GAP Analysis
- Master Formulation Review
- Regulatory Inquiries
- Analytical and Microbiological Testing
- Formulation Chemistry
- Customization of Policies and Procedures (SOPs)
- On-site Third-Party Evaluator
- Facility Operation Support
- Mock Audit
- Niche Market Specific Questions
- Demonstrated ability as a technical expert in the sterile compounding area, encompassing products, services and education.
- Expertise to potentially assist in the development and implementation of Continuing Pharmacy Education Activities, live and self-directed learnings.
- Expertise to potentially assist in the facilitation of Continuing Pharmacy Education Activities.
Skills, knowledge and abilities: - 5-10 years’ experience as a practicing compounding pharmacist in sterile compounding; retail and/or hospital market.
- 2-5 years’ teaching experience (e.g., preceptor, lecturer, facilitator, etc…) an asset.
- Regulatory and Standards of Practice Expert
- Product Specialist
- Active participant in National or State/Territory policy discussions, State Boards of Pharmacy advisory or committee member, etc. an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities (e.g., committee chair, group leader, etc.)
- Demonstrated motivational assets (e.g., captivating, personable, approachable, etc.)
- Proven abilities to apply judgement, ethical practice and decision making skills.
