Job Description - Senior Software Development Engineer, Managed Edge Compute

DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Managed Edge Compute (MEC) team is working on building a highly scalable unified management solution to manage, and report on Amazon's global fleet of compute devices across Amazon's fulfillment centers. Hundreds of thousands of Amazon Associates rely upon these devices to deliver shipments to Amazon retail customers. We provide our critical services in thousands of facilities ranging from Amazon's smallest last-mile emerging market delivery stations to 1M+ square foot robotic facilities. We are looking for a talented Sr Software Development Engineer to invent new solutions to improve our speed, scale, and efficiency. You will be joining a team that is developing a unified management solution that will be deployed across the entire fleet of compute units, testing frameworks, and improving reporting to enable complex data-driven decisions with globally impacting scope. Our AWS-based services enable Amazon's software, systems, and operations teams to use the latest technologies in our facilities. We build for performance, availability, security, and cost. Key job responsibilities
- Develop applications, services and automation for Linux systems
- Implement new features and enhance existing products
- Architect scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Mentor junior developers and share expertise
- Troubleshoot issues and help resolve customer problems
- Stay up to date on relevant technologies and best practices A day in the life

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 4+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience with Linux system fundamentals.
- Proficiency in at least one high level language like Python
- Experience developing for both x86 and ARM-based platforms
- Experience with software development processes and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and collaboratively
