Job Description - Sr. Manager, ER- LAM/NAM

PURPOSE AND OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION

This is a new role serving as primary Employee Relations support for the LAM (Latin America) geography and providing a potential of 25% percent of support for the NAM (North America) geography. You will work alongside the NAM Dir Employee Relations and the LAM VP HR to implement the ER strategy ensuring a consistent employee experience across the Globe. As an ER Sr Manager you are required to educate and advise the HR Team, Leaders and Employees about ER related policies, investigate concerns about potential policy violations and other workplace behavior, and support our employees through challenging workplace situations. A strong analyst, effective communicator, and calm operator, you’ll make recommendations and decisions that have a direct impact on stewarding the adidas culture.

ROLE CAN BE BASED IN PORTLAND OR LOS ANGELES.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serving as the primary Employee Relations resource in LAM and therefore bringing the Global ER Model to life in the LAM geography
• Building Relationships, Creating Value and Establishing Credibility for the Global ER Function with the LAM HR Team, Leaders and Stakeholders in the LAM Geography
• Managing a system for documenting, triaging, and processing policy violations and other workplace concerns including the development and delivery of relevant user trainings
• Responsible for assigned employee relations matters primarily in LAM however, including NAM, under the direction of the NAM Director Employee Relations and Global ER
• Drive the execution of the ER global framework for all key ER activities
• Conducts complex investigations in relation to ER matters e.g. bullying, harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other complex misconduct
• Restores organizational health following an investigation or conflict in the workplace
• Provides advice and counsel in a manner that is credible and inspires trust and engagement when complex workplace issues arise among employees at key points of the employee life cycle such as performance management and end of employment 
• Facilitates the resolution of complex disputes between different parties
• Supports and prepares regular ER reporting to all relevant stakeholder
• Responsible for maintaining accurate ER records within a Case Management System allowing collaboration with key partners to share data insights and trends
• Advises and trains managers and/or HR Business Partners on key ER processes and performs as an ER subject matter expert role
• Champions the adidas values and behaviors to drive a feedback culture

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Expertise in conducting complex workplace investigations and restoration of organizational health
• Expertise in Employee Relations crisis management issues e.g., societal movements #metoo
• Expertise in conflict resolution
• Knowledge of discrimination and harassment laws in key LAM countries / NAM would be a plus; knowledge of LAM/NAM Employment/Labor Laws is a plus
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies; with support from local legal and compliance resources
• Ability to negotiate internally to drive the acceptance of changes in existing practices and adoption of new standards and concepts; Influence and drive change
• Utilize a variety of influencing techniques and dispute resolution methods
• Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills with a proven ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy, tact and diplomacy
• Proven consensus building skills
• Ability to work in and thrive in a changing business environment
• Fluent in English and Spanish; speaking, reading and writing 

 

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree, Preferably in Business or Human Resources, or Related Field
• Min. 4+ years experience in Human Resources or Compliance field preferred with either direct Employee Relations experience or exposure to Employee Relations and investigations.
• Knowledge of sporting goods industry beneficial; Corp, Retail and DC experience valued
• Fluent in English and Spanish; speaking, reading and writing
