Store Manager, Remington

Greedy Reads is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, customer-service oriented book lover with extensive knowledge of frontlist and backlist titles to manage our Remington store.

The Store Manager’s key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing employees and the day-to-day functions of the bookstore, while ensuring Greedy Reads delivers a friendly, vibrant, memorable customer experience enhanced by our staff’s in-depth knowledge of books old and new and our ability to provide excellent recommendations to each customer.
• Collaborating with the store owner and general manager on broader Greedy Reads priorities, while directly supervising all booksellers in their daily store tasks. The Store Manager will work alongside staff as a bookseller on the floor.
• Directing, training, and setting the tone for store merchandising and displays, while ensuring that store shelves are always clean and well-organized.
• Working with management on the conception, setup, execution, and staffing for both in-store and off-site events.

This is not a back office position. The manager of the Remington store will be present on the sales floor for customer service, staff supervision, and troubleshooting, while taking time for administrative projects and meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

• Significant retail experience required, management preferred• Firm knowledge of retail operations and HR practicesThe ability to work evening events as needed, and extra hours during the holiday season
• Excellent organizational, delegation, and supervisory skill
• Good teambuilding skills, and the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, kindly, confidently, and fairly both one-on-one and with a team, as well as with customers
• Upbeat, friendly, and courteous style
• Knowledge and passion for frontlist and backlist titles and the book world at large

Schedule: Five days (Tuesday/Saturday)/ 35 hours per week, plus evening events as needed

Compensation: This is a salaried position with a starting rate of $35,000 - $40,000, including paid holidays, paid vacation, generous employee discount, and paid sick leave
