POSITION OVERVIEW:

Safely operates a truck or van under 26,000lbs and up to 26ft long primarily to deliver or pick up merchandise from donation centers, Goodwill stores/facilities or businesses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Immediately reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to the Transportation Director and/or Asset Prevention.

Maintains records such as Vehicle Logs and daily Trip Sheets according to all State and Federal laws and company procedures.

Provides basic supervision for assigned Truck Helper.

Reports any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to headquarters.

Loads and unloads trucks, vehicles, containers and trailers. Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or by use of hand truck, lift gate and/or pallet jack.

Maintains appropriate communication with headquarters.

Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on their assigned vehicle daily. Inspecting truck equipment and supplies (such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water). Reports any concerns to headquarters or a transportation management member immediately.

Pads, stacks, and secures items in position on the truck to prevent damage during transit.

Use good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, respect, sensitivity, politeness and thoughtfulness.

Abides by all Goodwill's established policies and procedures.

Adhere to all safety procedures and wear all safety equipment that is required for the specific task.

Accomplishes retail and organization mission by completing related assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Minimum 6 -12 months commercial truck driving experience.

Valid Georgia Driver's License (Class C), with driving record acceptable to company's vehicle insurance standards.

Must be able to read operating and safety instructions.

Ability to use effectively a dolly, pallet jack and lift gate.

Must have a flexible schedule (can work evenings and weekends when required).
